ABOUT XIANG
Hunan fire, flavour and hospitality — in Amsterdam.
OUR STORY
A genuine taste of Hunan, by the canal.
XIANG is located on Oude Doelenstraat in the heart of Amsterdam. Our name, “Xiang”, is the traditional abbreviation for Hunan — and a shorthand for a cuisine full of clarity, warmth and character.
Building on decades of experience with China’s regional cuisines, we began a new chapter in 2026: Hunan cooking at the centre, alongside a considered selection of Cantonese classics. It is food rooted in home, served at a table open to everyone.
HUNAN CUISINE
Vivid heat — and far more than heat.
Hunan cuisine is known for fresh chilli heat, but its character also comes from acidity, smoke, fermentation and the breath of the wok. Chilli is used to reveal flavour, never to conceal it.
We combine fresh local produce with essential seasonings from Hunan. Flash-frying, slow braising, dry-pot cooking and cold dressings give every ingredient its own rhythm and expression.
HUNAN BARBECUE
Charcoal fire is coming soon.
Barbecue is part of Hunan after dark: glowing charcoal, cumin, chilli and the easy energy of friends gathered around a table. XIANG’s barbecue menu is currently in development.
We are refining the skewers, seasonings and service with care. Coming soon.
